Over the past year I have been freelancing as a press release writer for the promotion company, Kari-On Productions. I do this out of love and respect for independent artists who work themselves to the marrow in the hopes of touching a few hearts in the universe with their music: not because they are the voices of tomorrow, but because they are the voices of the here and now. I’ve already posted one of these press releases for the Bay Area-based jazz vocalist Masha Campagne, with more to follow as the work finds me. It is my honor to announce that Terje Rypdal’s Melodic Warrior, a masterpiece commissioned by the Hilliard Ensemble and featuring Rypdal on electric guitar fronting two separate orchestras, will include liner notes by yours truly.
